Difference Between Process Layout and Work Cell Layout
Organizations use different facility layouts to arrange machines, equipment, and workers in the production area. Two commonly used layouts are Process Layout and Work Cell Layout. They differ in structure, workflow, flexibility, and efficiency.
1. Process Layout (Functional Layout)
Definition
A process layout groups similar machines or functions together. Items move from one department to another based on the sequence of operations required.

A cell that includes cutting, drilling, assembling, and testing machines arranged in sequence for one product type.
